What is a Backbone Supporter?

The body without a backbone wouldn’t function very well, would it? Well neither would AONZ without our Backbone Team! These faithful kiwis, help cover our running-costs by donating either weekly, monthly or annually to our NZ office. Their donations enable us to raise even more funds for the awesome work God is doing overseas.

What are Backbone donations spent on?

You’ve probably learnt by now that we’re a small, “no-frills” kind of organisation. We keep our overheads low so that as much money as possible can go towards transforming lives in Mongolia and Cambodia. We hope you like that about us. But to keep expanding all these life-impacting projects, it takes time, energy and resources.

Glenn Carter works 36 hours per week as AONZ Director and Kirsty Bond assists 16 hours per week with communications/marketing.

Some of Glenn and Kirsty’s work involves:

• Planning fundraising campaigns and creating content to grow the impact of our projects in Cambodia and Mongolia
• Organising events
• Support local-partners in the field
• Connecting with and speaking at churches here in NZ
• Organising and facilitating group trips to give kiwis the life-changing opportunity of experiencing mission first-hand
• Organising and teaching our Mission Minded Kids course in Christian schools in NZ

All this work is steadily growing our network of supporters and increasing donor-engagement in our NZ communities.

Are donations tax-deductible?

The upside of Backbone donations is that they are tax deductible (if you’re registered with the IRD in New Zealand), so a third of what you give ends up back in your pocket.

How much money should I donate?

That’s up to you! We’d love you to set up a regular donation of whatever amount is right for you. For example, you could set up a monthly or weekly automatic payment of $10.  And please don’t feel apprehensive about committing to regular payments…we realise that life circumstances change and that your donations might need to change too.

Of course we welcome one-off donations too!
